Springtime is almost here in much of the US, and with that season comes the opportunity to photograph an array of beautiful flowers in public parks, gardens and along hiking trails. Some photo fixing tips can help make the most of your springtime flower shots.

One of the most common approaches to photographing flowers is to use a macro lens or your camera's close-up mode. This allows you to fill the frame with the most interesting parts of the flower while "weeding out" the background. This presents some unique challenges, though, because the depth of field is quite narrow, depending on how close to the subject you are. So you need to think a lot about the composition of your shot. If you want to keep as much in focus as possible, you should consider all the ways that you can control depth of field, including aperture settings, lens focal length, and distance.

Exposure adjustments are easy for digital photographers because they can directly view the image being photographed to determine it has the desired exposure or needs some photo fixing by simply eyeballing the image on the camera's LCD screen. Many digital cameras also have highlight warnings that will flash on the LCD screen and histograms that display information about bright and dark areas in the image.

The photographer can turn to exposure compensation if the exposure needs adjusting, and then retake the picture. Every camera manual has a section that explains how to use the exposure compensation. This feature is usually marked on the camera by a button displaying a rectangle with a plus appearing in one corner and minus appearing in the other. Pushing this button brings up an exposure scale on the display where you can add or subtract the amount of light for an exposure.

Sofia Vergara is known for her curves, but now that she has been named the face of Diet Pepsi's new Skinny Can ads some are claiming that photoshop editing has been used to reduce those curves in the new ad campaign. Sofia, 38, is featured in the ads wearing a big blue hat and sipping soda out of a straw. A close up inspection reveals that her curves look reduced but the change is not that significant.

Vergara is positioned so that you can't see most of here face and body, and her arm looks to be slimmed by an oddly-placed shadow. Critics say that the changes, while subtle, send a bad message to young women that "thin is in". This is not the first Pepsi ad that Vergara has appeared in, since her first big break featured her in a bikini in a Pepsi ad.
